Groups involved in human trafficking have started trafficking by planning transit in those countries that provide on-arrival visa to Nepalese. People are being trafficked in Caribbean and African countries through visit visa. Most Nepalese might not be aware of the Caribbean country called St. Lucia. However, there is a large number of Nepalese who go to St. Lucia on a visit visa. One can get a visa in St. Lucia airport on-arrival. Foreign Employment Department has requested Home ministry not to send Nepalese to the country on an on-arrival visa after the traffickers began using it as a transit country to enter into The United States. The department wrote to ministry after the number of applications for rescue from those who went to St. Lucia on visit visa increased.
