Tharuhat protest extended till Sept 2 as their demand falls on deaf ears

The Tharuwan/Tharuhat United Struggle Committee has extended its movement until September 2. "A meeting of the struggle committee held on Sunday morning has decided to extend the movement until September 2 saying that the government paid no heed our to demand," said Central Committee Chairman of Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha. The Tharuhat movement has been taking place since August 12 demanding a single province stretching from Nawalparasi to Kanchanpur. In the 13th day of the Tharuhat movement, the western tarai has been crippled with all the marketplaces, transportation, educational institutes and industries closed.
