Two seriously injured in Khotang during dispute over sand mining

Two persons have been seriously injured in Khotang during a dispute over mining sand from Saruwa river in Bhulbhule of Nerpa VDC-9. The injured have been identified as 31-year-old Pradip Rai of Nerpa-5 and Dipak Rai (30yrs) from Dorpachiuridanda. They were injured on Saturday during a dispute between the youths of Nerpa and Dorpachiuridanda over mining sand from Saruwa river. The youths are believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the dispute. Youths from the two VDCs resorted to khukuri attack on each other. According to DSP Bidhyananda Majhi Pradip has sustained the injury in his leg while Deepak has suffered deep cut in the head due to the attack. Being unable to treat at the district hospital the two have been brought to Kathmandu. Shahiman Rai of Nerpa VDC-5 and Maulraj Rai of Nerpa VDC-7 who was slightly injured during the fight are undergoing treatment at the district hospital in Diktel.
