As many as 16 children from the three child homes were rescued after the shelter providing centres were found operating against the directives given earlier, in Pokhara. According to District Child Protection Officer, Bharat Raj Baral, a monitoring team had rescued the children after realising that the children would have a dark future if kept at the centres.

Earlier, District Child Welfare Board and Child Homes Monitoring Committee had given directives and suggestions to the centres for improvements. The centres without sufficient infrastructure, those located in the solitary area and employing foreigners without permission from the concerned authorities were under vigilance.

Five children from Sewa Nepal Child Centre operated by Shree Krishna Shrestha and Hari Krishan Pahari of Sarangkot, Pokhara-26, five from Prabhat Pariwartnashil Samaj Child Care Centre operated by Kul Bahadur Nepali in Sindurke of Sarangkot and six children from Jayen Heavenly Orphanage Home in Bhalam, Pokhara-20 run by Prem Prasad Bastola were rescued.

The child homes were found operating without registration. Meanwhile, Dristi Nepal Child Home in Baidam, Pokhara-6 was under the vigilance of the monitoring team after it promised to resettle the children with their family within September 2. The rescued children were kept at Shakti Samuha and CWIN Nepal, Baral further informed. Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Rawat informed that actions will be taken against them if they are found to be operating against the code of conduct. Baral further said if they were unable to reintegrate their children with their families, the kids will be referred to other child homes. There are 63 child homes in Pokhara, where 1,456 are residing, including 687 boys and 769 girls.
