Birgunj declared as riot zone, three injured airlifted to Kathmandu

The local administration has declared Birgunj in Parsa district as a riot zone after Monday’s protest led by Chairman of Sadhbhawana Party Rajendra Mahato turned violent. With the decision, the Nepal Army (NA) personnel have been mobilized. Four protesters were killed in clashes that erupted with police since early this morning. Parsa Police Chief SP Dibesh Lohani told Myrepublica that Birgunj was declared as riot zone after the law enforcement agency failed to contain violent protests.

updated... Three injured airlifted to Kathmandu Meanwhile, three demonstrators, seriously injured in the clashes, have been airlifted to the capital through a chopper of NA. On referral of Narayani Sub-regional Hospital, seriously injured Amarilal Pal of Bara and Prajwal Tiwari and Panna Lal Yadav of Parsa have been airlifted for further treatment. 25 protesters are being treated at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital and over 15 in different hospitals.
