Issuing a press statement on September 2 INSEC central region office has condemned the attack on human rights defenders by police in Janakpur. According to the press statement signed by INSEC Central region coordinator Krishna Gautam, Regional officer at NHRC Office Janakpur Ajit Thakur, Dhanusha district coordinator of Advocacy Forum Raj Kumar Mahaseth, chairman of Human Rights Defenders Forum Dipendra Das, coordinator of Abhyutthan Nepal Nagendra Kumar Sah, Birendra Karn of THIRD alliance and Dev Kumar Mahato of WOREC were beaten by the police on September 1 while they were monitoring and observing the demonstration. Through the press statement, INSEC has sought action against the security personnel involved in the beating and wished for the speedy recovery of the human rights defenders who were injured due to the beating.
