Educational institutions in the southern belt of the Nawalparasi District, including the headquarter Parasi, remained closed for the past 40 days owing to various protests and general strikes called by the parties protesting the demorcation of federal provinces. Despite the agreement reached with protesting factions regarding the smooth operation of educational institutions during the morning shifts, the agreement failed to materialize due to bleak security situation. Although schools resumed on Sunday, they were forced to shut down again after protestors torched a school bus belonging to Little Angels Higher Secondary School in the district. Locals have complained of the sheer negligence of concerned bodies to take initiative to resume the schools.
