Rautahat police on Friday arrested 8 journalists when they defied the riot-hit area order and staged demonstration expressing solidarity with Madhes agitation in Gaur. Former chairman of FNJ Rautahat Prem Chandra Jha, FNJ member Parshad Prabhat Jha, Kishori Yadav, Pravin Tibadewal and Dharmendra Sah was among the journalists arrested. They staged a demonstration demanding the guarantee of press freedom and the fulfilment of demands put forward by the citizens of Tarai Madhes. Earlier on Wednesday, police had arrested 26 journalists from Birgunj for staging demonstration in solidarity with Madhes agitation. They were later freed after being held in police custody for a few hours.
