School students used in protests

More than hundreds of thousands of students have been deprived of attending schools due to the ongoing protests against delineation. Schools have not opened as the protestors warned the schools to shut down. The school students have been used in protests after the schools have been closed. Students of age 6 to 16 have been seen causing obstructions in the road and burning tires. The students from various villages have been seen used in prtoests around Jaleshwar and other parts. A teacher Madan Jha said that though the political parties committed not to use children in strikes, this has not been implemented. Vice-chairperson of PABSON Mahottari Ishwari Pant said that the government and protestors both should be aware not to use schools and children in the name of protests. Saying that use of children in protests is unacceptable, she urged all to creat an environment for children to attend school. Private and community schools in Mahottari have not come into operation due to the ongoing protest for last 34 days. Schools have been shut since August 14due to the indefinite strike called by the Samyukta Loktantrik Tarai Morcha. According ot District Education Office Arbind Lal Karn, 169,589 students have been deprived of studies as schools remain shut due to the protests.
