A group of unidentified men have attacked the Banke district leader of YCL (United CPN Maoist's sister wing) Akbar Pathan on Tuesday night. According to police, Pathan was attacked and injured with a knife, spear and other sharp weapons by the unidentified group at Jaisapur. Kalim Khan, alias Kallu, who is thought to be one of those involved in the attack, is on the run, informed Banke police. Pathan is undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Teaching hospital. Meanwhile, issuing a press release today, YCL Banke has demanded proper investigation into the incident and punishment to those involved in the attack on their district leader. The press release issued by Banke district secretary of YCL Giri Raj Bhusal has also warned of protest if police failed to arrest the assailants.
