INSEC Siraha District Representative, Guru Saran Sada has been trashed by police while he had been covering news after over a dozen locals were injured in Badharamal VDC in the district on May 30.
Locals, who were supporting management committee of Janasewa Higher Secondary School of Karjanha had obstructed the East-West Highway at Bastipur Chowk in connection with a dispute of the land belonging to the school and INSEC DR Sada was covering the news related to the highway obstruction by the locals.
'
The security personnel, saying that journalists don't present when police personnel are beaten, had beat up Sada blaming that he took photograph when police exercised force.
The police personnel kicked and beat him with fists to different parts of his body. He sustained injuries to his ear. Sada is undergoing treatment at Bhumija Hospital at Golbazaar in Siraha. Police had also attacked Ganesh Sah, a journalist.
Meanwhile, INSEC Regional Office Biratnagar has flayed the incident today.
Issuing a press release, regional coordinator Som Raj Thapa has demanded action against the guilty police personnel and deliver justice to the victims.
Likewise, Siraha based human rights organizations including INSEC district office, WOREC, HRICON , Human Rights Alliance, NGO Federation among others have condemned the incident today.
