Min Shahi, 28, of Sukatiya1 has been arrested on May 30 on charge of raping a 23-year-old woman of ward no. 2 of same VDC. The District Police Office arrested him after the woman who runs a hotel at Raraghat filed a complaint against him accusing him of raping her at her hotel on May 26.

According to the victim's husband, Shahi had already fled when he came back hearing her cry for help. He said that Shahi had come as he had gone to catch fish.

"My wife is being treated at the district hospital and the police have initiated action three days after I filed the complaint," he said.

DSP Homnath Niraula refused to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, Shahi has claimed that he tore her clothes but did not rape her after she slandered him for no reason.

INSEC Gorkha representative Sudip Kaini reports that Sammat Ali Miya, 22, of Jhigate in Ashrang1 has been arrested on May 29 on charge of raping a 40-year-old woman of same place. Inspector Gautam Mishra of the district police office said that Miya was arrested after the women complained that she was raped at home by Miya on May 27.
