One Held for Trafficking Girls

Police have arrested Resham Bahadur Shahi, 32, of Rumi village in Jagannath2 on charge of attempting to traffick four girls. An Indian army man, Shahi was arrested from Jamunah customs in Banke on May 29.

According to police, Shahi was arrested following a complaint filed by Thir Bahadur KC, 41, of same place at the police post Bestada on May 28 accusing him of trying to take four girls including his daughter to India under the pretext of providing jobs.

The district police office Dailekh informed that Shahi and the four girls have brought to Dailekh from Banke on May 30.

DSP Sudarshan Thapa said that action would be taken against Shahi if the charge against him was proved. The girls have been handed over to their parents. All of them are eight graders at Bhagwati Secondary School in the same VDC.
