Hari Upadhyay, 41 of Dhadhbar6 has been arrested for allegedly attacking his wife, Sumitra Devi Upadhyay, 21 with a sharp weapon on June 4.

Hari, who was under the influence of alcohol, attacked Sumitra to her neck with the sharp weapon while she had been sleeping in the house in the afternoon on June 3.

Injured Sumitra had treated the wounds in a local medical shop and returned home, however, Hari took her out of house and beat her with batons in the night same day. In the meantime, locals and relatives arrived in the scene and informed police.

A team of police from Bansgadhi Area Police Office arrested Upadhyay on June 4, Arun Kumar Singh, inspector at Bardiya District Police Office said, adding that investigation of the incident is underway by filing a case of attempt to murder against the accused in the district court.
