Life Getting tougher due to bandh, blockade

The Indian unofficial blockade and Tarai bandh have adding to the difficulties of the locals. Despite media report of India lifting blockade, no fuel tanker entered from Rupaidiha custom point on October 4. In Banke, no vehicle carrying petroleum product entered from Jamunaha though 20 trucks carrying potato, Cement, Marbles and clinkers came in, Jamunaha Area Police Office’s SI Bishnu Giri said. Three UDMF cadres were arrested on October 4 including MJF-D’s Banke chairperson Hiralal Loniya, vice chairperson Mis Bahul Haq Ansari and distirct member Raj Kumar Barma. Area Police Office Jamunaha in-charge SI Bishnu Giri said that they were arrested after they tried to obstruct plying of vehicles on the road. “We were at Jamunaha to protest and the police arrested us”, Loniya said. They were released at 5 pm in the guarantee of MJF-D cadre Santosh Lakher. On October 3, Loniya was accused of being police agent by Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal leader Rajendra Bishwakarma after Loniya accused those holding protest against Nepal from Indian area as being Indian agents. In Dang, Right to Food Network urged the local administration to check the price hike and adulteration. In Rolpa, the vegetables grown by the farmers are going bad in the field due to difficulty in transporting them to the markets as shortage of fuel has forced many vehicles to ply on the road. The farmers of Budhagaon, Nuwagaon, Sakhi, Jhenam and Gairigaon were sending the vegetables to Dang, Nepalganj adn Butwal via Kapurkot of Salyan. Locals are facing price hike in Humla as they are being forced to pay quite high price for daily goods. Parbat General Store’s Sarbajit Gauchan said that the price per cooking oil had gone up by Rs 10 per litre since the blockade began. The goods including eggs, biscuits have also costlier. In Baridya, Mukesh Tharu of Gulariya Municipality-13 who threatened Kantipur daily reporter Kamal Panthi in a facebook post has been arrested in the night of October 3. Police said the case ended in reconciliation on October 4 after Mukesh apologized to Panthi for his post at District Police Office. Tharuhat/Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee coordinator Govinda Prasad Tharu had released statement on October 4 saying that media persons and the agitators had cordial relations while apologising for any difficulty they faced.
