Cadres of SLMM have cut down more than 200 trees planted in the field of CPN UML's local leader Maheshwor Prashad Yadav in Sinuwari VDC on Monday night. The SLMM cadres cut down the trees as a retribution for Yadav's support for the new constitution. Yadav had celebrated the promulgation of the new constitution by performing Dipawali in his house, and, had also refused to participate in the SLMM's protest programs. A group of SLMM cadres cut down the trees during midnight yesterday. The locals have grown fearful after the incident. Yadav also informed that he had already lodged complaint at the Sunsari District Police office against the incident. Meanwhile, SLMM leader and spokesperson of Sadbhawana party Santosh Mehta claimed that, some SLMM cadres who were irated by Yadav's celebration at a time when the madhes agitation is at it's height, might have cut down the trees. DSP Sanjayraj Sharma of Sunsari DPO said that police have launched an investigation into the incident.
