Family of a girl has fined Rs. 100000 to family of Anil Tamrakar, 16 of Hattikot7 for having inter-caste marriage with the girl on June 12.
Anil had inter-caste marriage with Dipa Saud, 15, hailing from ward no 8 of same VDC after love affair on May 20, Tamrakar family said.
The couple run away from the village after the marriage, however, family of the girl took control over the couple from Jayagarh Bazaar, separated Dipa from Anil and beat him up on May 21, Tamrakar family informed.
"Saud family had demanded Rs. 500000, however, we denied providing the amount but the family made us to provide Rs. 100000," Anil said. "Considering ethnic and social harmony, we agreed to provide Rs. 100000 to Saud family," Anil's father Nairam Tamrakar said.
Earlier, Saud family had filed a complaint at Thanti Area Police Office and urged to search for the couple after Dipa eloped with Anil on May 20. But Saud family did not make a contact with police after the family found the couple, the Thanti APO said.
Anil's mother, Bhunti Tamrakar had filed a complaint at Thanti APO saying that Saud family had threatened to kill her family members if Rs. 500000 was not given to the girl's family on May 22.
After the incident, Saud family got Dipa married with a person of Kuskot VDC and provided the sum taken from Tamrakar family to her as dowry during her marriage, Surat Sunar, a local said.
