Birgunj-Raxual border opening sparks protests

The opening of the Birgunj-Raxual border by police early this morning has sparkled multiple protests in Birgunj. Police had vacated the protestors sit-in spot in Miteri Bridge from 4 am early morning. Protestors have burnt tyres at multiple places and hindered all the way to customs office. Police has barred movements from Rajat Jayanti Chowk in Birgunj to foil regrouping of agitators in the bridge. They are also checking Ids of those heading towards India. The cadres of agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha had been staging 24-hour sit-in in Dasgaja area of Nepal-India border for the past 40 days. Police also cleared camps and tents used by the protestors in the area.
