Police has foiled the bid for child marriage between Hari Krishna Baitha, 16, son of Bhikhari Baitha of Sakhuwa Prasauni7 and Bhagirath Baitha, 13, the daughter of Rajman Baitha of Shibabarsa3 on June 24.
A team of sub-inspector Krishna Prasad Lamichhane of Ektanga Police Station stopped the wedding being held at Motin Mai temple in Sakhuwa Prasauni.
SP Pitambar Adhikari said that the police had to interfere as the girl should have been 18 years and boy 20 years for such marriage to be held in a temple.
Adhikari added the guardians were ready to organize the marriage of the girl or by only after they become eligible legally.
