Birgunj police has fired three rounds of shots in the air after Madhesi morcha caders tried to defy curfew clamped by the local administration on Tuesday morning. Three rounds of shots were fired after United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) cadres began to demonstrate in front of the Brahma Police Post this morning. Parsa District Administration had enforced curfew for until further notice following the clash with the agitating Madhesi cadres that ensued after the police cleared the Birgunj blockage, leaving an Indian national Ashish Ram dead. Police had intervened in the sit-in that the cadres had been staging since last 40 days on Monday. In retaliation, Madhesi cadres had attacked area police station in which over two dozen demonstrators including 10 police personnel were injured, said Chief District Officer Keshav Raj Ghimire. The curfew has been enforced in the radius of five kilometers including Birgunj Custom Office, Birta, Adarshanagar, Ghantaghar, Shreepur, according to Ghimire.
