CCWB urges agitators not to use children in protests

2015-11-08

Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

The Central Child Welfare Board (CCWB) under the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare has appealed to one and all to respect child rights and not to use children in protest programmes. The CCWB has expressed its concern over the use of children in the agitation programmes taking place in various Tarai districts just after promulgation of the Constitution. Insisting on creating child-friendly atmosphere, the CCWB stressed that a solution to the Tarai/Madhes protests be sought through consensus. The unofficial blockade imposed by India on Nepal has curtailed the child rights, the CCWB said, appealing to the stakeholders concerned to ensure children’s rights to education in peaceful atmosphere and medical facilities. Almost all schools in the Tarai/Madhes are closed due to a prolonged agitation there, the CCWB remarked.
