The family of Mihir Kumar Karn, 22, of Panitanki in Birgunj sub-metropolis-15, accused police of beating him up and throwing him into a fire near National Trading in Mainroad, Birgunj. Injured Karn is undergoing treatment at the surgical ward of Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj. Karn suffered burn injuries on his face and other body parts. His family alleged that police stopped him near Mainroad in Birgunj as he was returning in a motorbike after dropping his sick sister-in-law to the hospital at around 7 pm on November 3. He has suffered severe burns in his left part while there are serious injuries in his face, eye, head, chest. Meanwhile, District Police Office, Parsa has clarified that no one has been thrown into the fire. The DPO said that the Karm might have fallen into the fire while running away. Madhesi Intellectual Professional Group, Parsa condemned the incident issuing a press statement on November 4. It demanded action against those involved in the incident.
