The Makwanpur District Court has slapped a five-year jail term for a man convicting him of raping an elder woman.

A single bench of district judge, Tek Narayan Kunwar on July 9 convicted Moti Lal Syangtan, 53, of Gadhi1 of raping a-60-year-old woman.

Syangtan has been convicted of raping the elder woman in a jungle located in the border of ward no 2 and 4 of Harnamadi VDC on April 24 while she had been returning home alone in the evening.

Syangtan has been sent to Bhimphedi Prison following the court's order.
