FNJ Panchthar has issued a statement on July 28 demanding action against the man issuing threats to Eagle FM.

The FM reported aired a news story on embezzlement of money provided by the government to provide to inter-caste couple. A local Bhawani Shankar called Eagle Station Manager Lekhnath Khatiwada on July 27 saying the FM was leaving bigger fish out and targeting smaller fish like him. He warned that the FM could be shut down if he was not left alone.

Shankar along with Tikaram Dhamala of Bharapa8 was held by police for collecting the fine of Rs 10,000 slapped by the District Court on July 27 which was also covered by the FM station. They will also have to stay in jail for 15 days each.

FNJ district chairperson Laxmi Gautam in the statement termed it as a violation of freedom of the press.
