Morcha protestors torch governmental offices

Cadres of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha have torched two government offices in Malangawa on December 21. Morcha’s cadres torched offices of water supply and women development as a protest against the arrest of district Chairman of Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal, Ashok Yadav. Police fired a few rounds of bullets in the air and lobbed tear gas shells to contain the situation. Police had arrested Yadav and other leaders affiliated to Madhesi Morcha for their alleged involvement in vandalism of passport department at District Administration Office on December 20. Later in the evening police had released Yadav, Sadbhawana Party district Chair Pramod Sah and Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party district Chair Kaushal Kishor Raya, along with 10 other arrestees, in an understanding that they would conduct a peaceful protest. Yadav was again arrested at 8 pm and was taken into custody after extending his remand on public offence charges from the court on December 21.
