At least ten persons have been injured after cadres of Madhesi Morcha clashed with police as they were trying to wave black flags at Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar on December 30.
Parshuram Yadav, 55, and Sachendra Yadav, 25, of Narsingh VDC-2; Gula Sharma, 45, of Inaruwa Municipality-2, Dharma Bir Mehata, 35, of Inaruwa-7, Mahamad Basir Miya, 25, of Inaruwa-2, Sadri Mehata, 50, of Babia VDC-8, Ram Sagar Mehata, 44, of Dumraha VDC-7, Kusum Lal Yadav, 47, of Bhokraha VDC-5, Lakhan Mahato, 35, of Harinagara VDC-2 and Harilal Yadav, 37, were injured in police lathi-charge, according to Madhesi Morcha.
District Chairperson of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Bhagirath Khatwe said that police suppressed their peaceful protest. He said that police lathi-charged them from behind as the demonstration reached near Hospital Chok in Inaruwa. Khatwe added that police arrested his cadre Chunchun Yadav, 38, of Inaruwa-2 while he was waving black flag.
Police said that the clash took place as the protestors tried to enter by wielding lathis at the venue where Forum Loktantrik had organized a program.
DSP Chiranjibi Koirala of the District Police Office said that arrested Chunchun Yadav is an absconding accused.
