Three leaders of CPN-M (Biplov) held for extortion in Darchula

Police have arrested three leaders of Biplov-led CPN-M on January 5 on the charges of extorting money. Police registered a case against the trio at the District Court on January 6. Those arrested are CPN-M District Coordinator Rajendra Singh Bista, District Coordinator of Rastriya Yuwa Swayamsebak Samiti Mandhoj Saud, and District Coordinator of ANNISU Revolutionary Bishnu Raj Lekhak. Police arrested them following complaints of extortion from VDC secretaries, local businessperson, and government officials against them. Police said that receipts used for extortion, dairies showing a transaction of the extorted amount were recovered from them. The three are charged under the Donation Act (2030). They could get 2 years sentence or 2 thousand rupees fine or both if convicted. Complaints were filed at police accusing them of forcefully collecting money in the name of donations in rural parts for the past one month.
