2016-01-08

Madhes, Dhanusha, Janakpur

Supporters of the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) took to the streets enforcing banda in Janakpur of Dhanusha district on Friday in protest against the retaliation demonstration by businessmen the other day. The agitating Morcha called for the strike after local businessmen of Janakpur on Thursday torched motorcycles of SLMM aligned district leaders. The Morcha also enforced shutdown of schools and colleges including market places except for medicine shops as part of its protest today. An emergency meeting of the party yesterday had declared Janakpur FNCCI senior Vice-Chairman Bijay Kumar Shah, among other three businessmen, as anti-Madhes and decided to padlock their shops and business enterprises. Chairman of Samyukta Youth Struggle Committee, Dharbendra Shah, informed that they were compelled to dub FNCCI vice chair Shah, Ananda Jha, Pankaj Jain and Santosh Shah as anti-Madhes for their active involvement in the arson attack on motorbikes of Morcha’s leaders and manhandling them.
