A burglar who was caught by villagers in Bhaluwa village of Duhabi in Sunsari on Thursday morning has died after being attacked by the villagers. The burglar identified as Mohammad Alam, who went to steal at the house of Harinarayan Shah in Duhabi Bhaluwa-1 died due to delay in receiving treatment on the injuries sustained from the villager's attack. According to Police Mohammad sneaked into the house of Harinarayan at around 2:00 am in the morning on Thursday to steal things, but was caught by the villagers. He was tied in the cowshed after being brutally beaten. The incident came into the notice of police only in the morning at around 7:00 am by which time Mohammad's condition had deteriorated. He passed away one hour later while undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar. Inspector Shiva Pokhrel of Area Police Office Duhabi said that the case would have been different if the villagers had handed Mohammad over to the police instead of beating him. Police have arrested Sanjay Shah - son of Harinarayan Shah and eight others for their alleged involvement in the attack on Mohammad which eventually killed him.
