A 22-year-old man from Dhankaul in Sarlahi district died in an attack by a gang of four unidentified looters on Friday night. Police identified the deceased as Rampukar Sahani of Dhankaul-7. Two others--Shivaji Sahani and Sagirat Sahani--sustained injuries in the incident. The looters attacked them while they were returning home from Sekhauni on a motorcycle. The assailants fled with the motorcycle after the incident. The attackers had intercepted the motorcycle with a motive of robbing the three persons who were riding it and attacked them indiscriminately with sharp weapons. Police said that Rampukar died of excessive bleeding while being rushed to Barhathawa for treatment. He had sustained deep cut injuries on his head and abdomen. After seeing the injured on the roadside, local people had informed the police who later took them to hospital. Inspector Hemanta Rana said the looted motorbike was recovered from a field near the incident site on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, police have arrested Bisheshwar Pandit of Bagdaha VDC in connection with the incident. An investigation official said there were blood marks on Pandit’s clothes.
