A 6-months pregnant girl, Shabana Apsana Kabadiya, 17, of Saigaun4 has been injured in beatings by her father-in-law, Idrish Kabadiya, 45, on September 8.

The doctors attending her said that her unborn baby was critically affected due to the beatings.  Shabana is undergoing treatment at Bheri Region Hospital.

Shabana's Father Ishak Kabadiya was also beaten when he went to help her daughter, the locals said. Ishak sustained a head injury in the incident. He, having house near his house, went to help his daughter after he knew that she was assaulted.

The victim was raped by her neighbor Mohammad Ahamad Rai six months ago when she was alone at home. He was made to marry the girl as per Muslim Culture on August 28 in order to prevent it from being public after the girl became pregnant. She has being assaulted by her husband since the day she was married, Sabana said.

Her husband went to India on September 2. Shabana was beaten by her father -in-law and his brothers Muwarak Kabadiya and Mujammil Kabadiya, local Sabbir Rai informed.

Meanwhile, the District Police Office has arrested her father-in-law Idrish where as other two are at large. Injured Shabana was rescued by the police and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The investigation on the incident was underway and the perpetrators would be prosecuted as per law, SP Bikram Singh Thapa of the District Police Office, Banke said.
