Six locals have been injured when cadres of the UCPN-M attacked members of a Road Consumers' Committee over a dispute at Khanayokharka of Thakre4 on December 10.
Of the six injured, locals Raj Kumar Thapa, 27 and Raju Thapa, 24, who suffered critical injuries, have been taken to Kathmandu based TU Teaching Hospital for treatment. They have sustained injuries to their heads, hands and other parts of the body, locals said.
According to the locals, fund of Rs 8, 00000 was allocated by District Development Committee (DDC) for the construction of Satghumti-Thakam road and the consumers' committee was formed for the construction of the road, however, UCPN-M had filed a complaint at DDC demanding to revise consumers committee and to appoint UCPN-M representative as its chairperson.
When dispute arose, members of consumers committee had manhandled UCPN-M VDC secretary Nawaraj Chapagain in the afternoon on December 10. Chapagain had sustained minor injuries. Later at 8 pm, a gang led by Chapagain's brother Raj Kumar and YCL in-charge Bikash Bhandari attacked members of the road consumers' committee, injuring six including Thapa duo. All the injured members of the committee are the former cadres of UCPN-M.
Locals had taken control over Raju who hid himself after the attack. Later, they handed him to the police. Other persons involved in the attack are at large, said the Khanikola Area Police Office.
