Police have arrested senior district member of UCPN-M Dev Sagar Das, 36, of Bateshwor VDC-5 on March 7 on the charge of beating Birendra Sah, chief of District Forest Office. According to DSP Nakul Pokharel, Das was arrested on the charge of vandalizing DFO and manhandling DFO staff. The DFO has said that Sah was beaten and office materials, including laptop, mobile was vandalized on March 6. DSP Pokharel said that complaint was filed against some leaders including lawmaker Ram Singh Yadav, UCPN-M central member Ram Chandra Paudle, Dev Sagar Das among at the District Police Office on March 7. UCPN-M cadres have staged protests in front of the DPO against the arrest.
