Senior citizens, widows, dalits and persons with disabilities of Bairawa VDC in Saptari have enforced Chakka Jam on September 23 from 8 to 9 am at Mahadevpatti chok along the east-west highway demanding social security allowances.

300 people including senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities complained that they were deprived from security allowances, nutrition allowances and salary from informal education program since last year.

"The transportation was affected due to the hour-long strike" Inspector Rajendra Bahadur Basnet, local police office said.

According to the local Mohammad Taiyab, they were compelled to call for the chakka jam after the VDC secretary Dev Narayan Shah stopped coming to the office and they were only given consolation by VDC and District Administration Office even though the problem was reported from time to time.

The Chakka Jam was called off after inspector Basnet confirmed to summon VDC secretary Dev narayan Shah in order to release the allowances. The locals are demanding action against the VDC secretary and investigation about the allowances.
