Cadres of Biplav-led CPN-M have smeared the face of Jaya Ram Shrestha, Engineer of District Technical Office with black ink on April 10. Police arrested CPN-M cadres in connection with the incident. According to the police, five CPN-M cadres arrived at the office room of Shrestha and smeared black ink on his face, accusing him of irregularities in planning and other works. Search for other CPN-M cadres is ongoing, said police. Prem Bahadur Shahi, district chairperson of ANNISU-Revolutionary was arrested from Thatibazaar while CPN-M cadre Hari Bahadur Thapa was arrested from Holi Jiula. CPN-M took responsibility for the incident through a press statement stating that they had taken 'people's action' against Shrestha. The press statement accuses Shrestha of asking for a 10 percent commission from various projects of development and construction in the district, and not working according to the all-party decision and consensus.
