2016-04-13

Unified CPN-Maoist cadres padlocked an oxygen gas industry at Subbagaun of Panauti Municipality-2, Kavre. The action has brought production work to a halt. A group of the Maoist cadres led by Indra Kumar Shrestha padlocked the administration, production and distribution departments of Navajyoti Gases Private Limited on March 28. Manager Uttam Guatam of the company said the industry had stopped producing oxygen, liquid nitrogen and nitrogen. Gautam said disruption of gas production had hit the people hard. The company had been selling small and large oxygen cylinders toe commoners. Owing to the padlock, production has halted for the past two weeks. This is the fifth time Maoist cadres have resorted to padlocking the gas industry. Shrestha said that they had padlocked the gas industry as the gas company had to pay Rs 15 million, including his salary and soil filling for the company. UCPN-Maoist Kavre Chairman Dinanath Gautam said Shrestha had to resort to padlocking due to the industry’s failure to clear his dues. Manager Gautam, however, said that Shrestha had resorted to padlocking the gas industry as he was not allowed to sell gas cylinders at a price higher than fixed by the company.
