YCL cadres injure Nepali Congress leader in Rukum

Cadres of Young Communist League (YCL), the youth wing of ruling coalition partner UCPN-Maoist, reportedly attacked and injured a district leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress in Rukum on Wednesday. Issuing a press statement today, the NC Chief Secretary Rishikesh Tiwari said NC Rukum District Secretary Bhim Bahadur Khadka was attacked during a function organised by local Mayur Youth Club at around 4 pm yesterday. While Khadka was addressing the function, the YCL cadres climbed up the stage, snatched away the mic and mistreated him, according to the statement. “The YCL cadres directly intruded onto the right of citizens to express their ideas as provided by the Constitution,” the statement read, “Nepali Congress strongly condemns such undesired activities.” The NC meanwhile warned against repeating such incidents in the future. The party demanded with the government action against the attackers.
