(Updated) Former lawmaker Budhani Devi Mahato was severely beaten up by an unidentified group on Monday night. An unidentified group of 8-10 individuals possessing homemade arms and wooden clubs attacked her at her home, leaving her seriously injured. A former lawmaker representing from the UCPN (Maoist) is in serious condition, according to local UCPN (Maoist) leader Pikaru Paswan. She is undergoing treatment in Janakpur Zonal Hospital. When contacted, the District Police Office Mahottari said that it was yet to be informed about the incident.RSS
Update........ Police have arrested three people on the charge of their involvement in the incident of the beating of a former lawmaker. The UCPN (Maoist) former lawmaker Budhani Devi Mahato was severely beaten up by unidentified people on Monday night. The Area Police Office, Gaushala arrested 34-year-old Nathuni Yadav, 29-year-old Naresh Yadav and 46-year-old Ram Ishwar Yadav, all residents of Laxminiya-8, for their involvement in the former lawmaker beating incident. They were held from their homes on Tuesday and have been forwarded to Jaleshwar for further action. The accused entered Mahato's house and beat her black and blue using home-made weapons. Mahato, who sustained serious injuries due to the beating, is undergoing treatment at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital. According to locals, the group comprising the three men attacked Mahato as it was unhappy with her role in settling a long-running dispute between two rival groups in the village. RSS
