Four Policemen Face Departmental Action for Torturing Students

Saptari/November 12 The District Police Office has said that it has taken department action against four police personnel on November 12 after they were found involved in torturing two students.

Those facing departmental action are SI Kulananda Chaudhary of Lohjara police base camp, ASI Rabindra Chaudhary of Paththargada police base camp, head constable Suresh Prasad Yadab and constable Ram Pukar Yadab of DPO.

DSP Govind Adhikari said that it was found that the police personnel had beaten up ANNFSU central members Akhilesh Jha and Durgananda Thakur after taking them inside the DPO.

According to the victims, they were severely beaten with lathi, kicked and punched inside the DPO on charge of showing black flags to the Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai who had arrived at Rajbiraj on October 14.

Confirming that the incident carried out by Saptari police had made a mockery of human rights and democracy, INSEC, in a press release on October 15, had urged the government to take action against the guilty policemen and immediately provide treatment to the injured.
