4 held as Samakhusi pub owners attack police

Police on Friday arrested four persons, including a couple illegally operating a pub, from Ranibari area of Samakhusi, KMC-29. Police said they were arrested after they resorted to physical attacks on a patrol team deployed from the local Ranibari Police Beat . Police had tried to close a pub illegally operated by one Bhakta Rai, a permanent resident of Nerpa-6 of Khotang district, while they were attacked. At first, police had arrested Rai and sent him to the custody of Metropolitan Police Circle, Lainchaur. But, after some minutes, his wife Alisa as well as two others – Kismat Rai and Sabina Tamang – assaulted the police patrol team, thereby forcing the law enforcers to arrest them as well. Meanwhile, two police personnel sustained injuries in the incident and are undergoing treatment at Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Further investigation is underway.
