KATHMANDU, APR 02 - The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has inquired about the progress in investigating the cases of violence against women, including the disappearance of Chhori Maiya Maharjan. A meeting was held on Monday among family members of Chhori Maiya and Sita Rai, representatives of Nepal Police, OPMCM, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and campaigners of Occupy Baluwatar. According to OPMCM Secretary Raju Man Singh Malla, representatives from the police briefed on the recent developments on the cases that they have been looking into. “The officials from Central Investigation Bureau said that they have been trying to identify a few technical details about the notes seen in my mother (Chhori maiya)’s personal diary,” said Sudha, Chhori Maiya’s daughter. Similarly, police also said they were searching for the immigration officials who absconded after robbing off Sita Rai upon her arrival at the TIA from abroad. Earlier, Choodamani Sharma, chief district officer of Kathmandu, had also held a meeting with Occupy Baluwatar campaigners and victim s’ family members to solicit their views.
