A woman police staffer’s attempt to lodge a complaint against her boss (DSP) for workplace harassment has apparently backfired to her. Rekha Kunwar, deputed at Naumule Area Police Office and working at District Police Office (DPO), Dailekh, had lodged a complaint Bheri Zone Police Office against her boss Kedar Rajaure alleging that the latter harassed her. She said that the team that reached the DPO for investigation chided her instead in a prejudiced manner. “I was rebuked for informing the media. I was forced to inform the media for the delay in carrying out the investigation,” she complained. “I have been subjected to torment at the hands of bosses.” She has accused that DSP Rajaure manhandled her for no reason during the selection process of temporary police for local level elections. Police staffers at Women Police Cell have expressed their displeasure at the tendency of torturing women instead of providing justice. “The department is bent on protecting the bosses, though the latter manhandle us in public,” said a woman police. “Where should we go to complain, if we can’t get justice from the department? Who would give justice to lower level people like us?” she further questioned. However, Bheri Zonal Police Chief SSP Mahesh Bikram Shaha said the investigation into the complaint is underway. The three-member probe panel is lead by Inspector Harihar Khadka. Many have expressed their surprise at the decision to depute an inspector for the investigation of a DSP. “This is directly an attempt to provide amnesty to the oppressor,” said INSEC representative Amar Surnar, expressing his cynicism about the possibility of justice to the victim. कार्यस्थलमा दुव्र्यवहार गरेको आरोपमा जिल्ला प्रहरी प्रमुख (डिएसपी) विरुद्ध विभागमा उजुरी दिएकी एक महिला प्रहरीले उल्टै तनाव भोग्नुपरेको छ । नौमूले इप्रका दरबन्दी भई जिप्रका दैलेखमा कार्यरत रेखा कुँवरले आफ्नै हाकिम डिएसपी केदार रजौरेविरुद्ध दुव्र्यवहारको आरोप लगाउँदै भेरी अञ्चल प्रहरी कार्यालयमा उजुरी दिएकी थिइन् । उनले प्रहरी प्रधान कार्यालय, महिला तथा बालबालिका इकाई र मध्यपश्चिम क्षेत्रीय प्रहरी कार्यालयलाई बोधार्थसहित दुई साता अघि उजुरी दिएकी थिइन् । अञ्चल प्रहरी कार्यालयबाट छानविनका लागि पुगेको टोलीलेसमेत पुर्वाग्रही भएर उल्टै हपारेको गुनासो पोखिन् । ‘किन मिडियामा दिईस् भनेर हपार्ने काम भयो । उजुरीमाथि छानविन ढिलाई हुँदा सार्वजनिक गर्न बाध्य भएकी हुँ,’ उनले भनिन्, ‘हाकिमसाबहरु र छानविन टोलीबाट उल्टै तनाव झेल्नुपरेको छ ।’ म्यादी प्रहरी भर्ना छनौट स्थलमा डिएसपी रजौरेले बिना गल्ती हातपात गरेको उनको आरोप छ । विभागले पीडितलाई न्याय दिनुको साटो उल्टै तनाव दिएको भन्दै महिला प्रहरी सेलका जवानहरुले असन्तुष्टि जनाएका छन् ‘पब्लिकसामू हाकिमले हातपात गर्छन् । उल्टै विभागले हाकिम जोगाउने प्रयास गर्छ,’ एक महिला प्रहरीले प्रश्न गरिन्, ‘विभागबाटै न्याय नपाए कहाँ उजुरी गर्नु ? हामी तल्लो स्तरकालाई कस्ले दिने हो न्याय ?’ अञ्चल प्रहरी प्रमुख (एसएसपी) महेशविक्रम शाहले उजुरीमाथि छानविन भैरहेको जानकारी दिए । छानविन टोलीमा अञ्चल प्रहरीका इन्सपेक्टर हरिहर खड्काको संयोजकत्वमा तीन सदस्य छन् । ‘जसको गल्ती हो उसैलाई कारबाही हुन्छ’ शाहले भने । डिएसपीको छानविनमा इन्सपेक्टर पठाउनुलाई धेरैले आश्र्चय व्यक्त गरे । ‘यो सिधै पीडकलाई उन्मुक्ति दिने प्रयास हो,’ इन्सेक प्रतिनिधि अमर सुनारले भने, तल्लो दर्जाले माथिल्लो दर्जाको स्पष्टिकरण सोध्लान् र, पीडितले न्याय पाउलान् भन्ने कमै विश्वास गर्न सकिन्छ ।’
