Mugu/ June 4 Dalit community of Kalai VDC has been barred from using the public well. It has been revealed that the 35 dalit families of the Kalai VDC, which is a day”s walk from the district headquarters, have been restricted to use the well by taking water out themselves. The Dalit community had been using a separate well in the village which dried out 5 years ago. Three taps constructed by the Drinking Water Office had also dried out after which a rule was imposed that the dalits could not take out water from the well used by non-dalits. According to Dalit activist Harka Nepali, such rule was imposed due to the superstition that the well would dried out if Dalits take the water out from the well. June 4 is marked across the country as the day against untouchability after Nepal was declared untouchability free seven years ago this day. Jeevan Sejuwal मुगु । जेठ २१ गते सदरमुकामबाट एक दिनको पैदल दूरीमा रहेको कालै गाविसका दलितले गाँउमा रहेको सार्वजनिक कुवाको पानी आफैँले निकालेर प्रयोग गर्न नपाएको तथ्य बाहिर आएको छ । नेपाल सरकारले ०६३ जेठ २१ गते नेपाललाई छवाछूत मुक्त घोषणा गरेको अवसरमा जेठ २१ गते सातौँ छुवाछूत दिवस मनाइरहँदा जिल्लाको उत्तरी भेगमा पर्ने कालै गाविसका ३५ घरधुरी दलितले वर्षौँदेखि गाउँमा रहेको सार्वजनिक कुवाको पानी आफैँले निकालेर खान नपाएको तथ्य सार्वजनिक भएको हो । गाँउमा रहेका दुई कुवामध्ये एकमा दलित र अर्कोमा गैरदलितले प्रयोग गर्दै आएकोमा दलितले प्रयोगगर्ने कुवा पाँच वर्षअघि सुकेको थियो । गाउँमा खानेपानी कार्यालयले निर्माण गरिदिएको तीन धारासमेत सुकेपछि गैर दलितले प्रयोग गर्दै आएको कुवामा दलित आफैँले पानी भर्न नपाउने नियम लागु भएको हो । सो कुवामा दलित आफैँले पानी भरेमा विजय देवता लाग्ने र कुवा सुक्ने भन्दै गैर दलितले त्यस्तो नियम बनाएको दलित अधिकारकर्मी हर्क नेपालीले बताए । गैरदलितले खन्यायर दिएको पानीबाट गुजारा गर्दै आएका सो समुदायमा दुवै पक्षबीच पानी प्रयोगमा कुनै भेदभाव नगर्ने भनी एक महिना अगाडि सहमति भएपनि पुनः गैरदलितले कुल देवता रिसाएको भन्दै दलित आफैलाई पानी भर्न प्रतिवबध लगाइएको दलित समुदायिक विकास केन्द्रका कार्यक्रम संयोजक धिरज नेपालीले बताए । जीवन सेजुवाल
