Two women, victim’s kin and a female leader, who were on their way to attend court’s hearing on a child-murder-case, have been thrashed by police on the premises of Rautahat District Court on Monday. The 55-year-old Kaurasi Fakiri and local leader Ambya Khatun were reportedly beaten up by female police in their private parts as they tried to enter the court premises. Fakiri, the grandmother of 8-year-old Mahfuj Dewan, the victim of a cold-blooded murder at Rajpur Municipality in the district, showed up at Court along with 25 females and males to attend the trial of five persons whom the police had presented before court upon completion of investigation of the case. However, Fakiri and others were stopped at the main gate of the court. After being barred entry, female leader Ambya Khatun tried to enter the premises along with Fakiri only to be ruthlessly thrashed by two female police officers on duty. According to a local eye witness, Mantajir Alam of Rajpur, female police personnel struck Khatun in her chests and private parts with their boots leaving her unconscious. Likewise, Fakiri also fell to the ground after she was beaten up in her back and chest. However, Superintendent of Police Yagya Binod Pokharel at the Rautahat District Police downplayed the incident and said that the police implied little force to push people outside after victim’s kin and others tried to enter the court premises to put pressure to the justices carrying out legal proceedings. According to Health Assistant at the Emergency Room of Rautahat District Hospital in Gaur, Pankaj Thakur, the women have sustained injuries to their private parts. However, they are out of danger now and undergoing treatment at the Hospital. “Fakiri requested me to take her into the trial room but we were ruthlessly pulled down and beaten up,” Leader Khatun wept while demanding strict action against the police personnel involved in the incident.
