News Inter-caste Couple Separated Rupandehi/August 20 Locals have separated an inter-caste couple of Sipuwa VDC-8 five months after their marriage. The couple was separated following decision of the locals that the society had not approved of their marriage. Bipat Harijan and Bindeswari Bhar of Sipuwa VDC-8 who had performed a court marriage got divorced on August 6 at the District Court as per the locals' decision. The couple had been displaced since their love marriage on March 14. The dalit family and the couple were displaced after Bindeswari's family issued threats and thrashed him demanding her return. Police had held discussions with both sides after Bipat asked for police help following attack on his brother and mother. Bipat's brother Sugreev said that they returned Bindeswari after the locals unanimously decided to return her. Family of Bipat has returned the village after the divorce while Bindeswari has been sent to her relative in India. Chief of the District Police Office Bikram Singh Thapa said that police did not intervene as both sides were had reached the agreement.
