A police station at Manara Sisawa-8 in Mahottari district was attacked by locals over the arrest of a drunken man on Monday night. Three police personnel were injured and windows of the Kataiya police station at Manara Sisawa-8 were damaged in the attack. Ward Chairperson RadheshyamTiwarin said police had arrested one JawarKawari, 21, for disturbing peace under the influence of alcohol on Monday night. Kawar’s friend Jalil Ansari had a dispute with the police while Kawar was being taken to the police station. While Ansari was discussing with police, Kawari fled and police instead arrested Ansari. Following the arrest of Ansari, some 100 villagers reached the police station when police personnel were out for night patrol. They attacked the police station and also released the arrested Ansari. SP KuberKadayath informed police arrested Ismail Ansari for his involvement in the attack. Kawari, Jalil Ansari and nine others involved in the incident are on the run. Kadayath said police are searching for the absconding persons.
