A six-month-old baby boy is in critical condition after unidentified assailant(s) poured a chemical that left burn injuries similar to a corrosive acid. The baby, Muskan Bayak, was asleep alone in his parents’ home in Turmakhand Rural Municipality-4 in Achham on Tuesday when assailant(s) did the gruesome crime. There is no information whether one assailant or more than one committed the crime. Muskan’s father was working away from home while his mother was at an animal shed nearby when the incident took place. The child is admitted to the district hospital. A doctor treating the victim said, the condition of the baby is critical. “We immediately referred the baby to Nepalgunj Medical College in Kohalpur. His treatment is not possible here as we do not have ventilator service,” said Dr Manoj Bista. “I left my son in the house for just five minutes. There was no one else in the house,” said the child’s mother Devsara Bayak. “I was feeding a buffalo outside. I rushed home after I heard the son crying. He was suffering a lot.” She said unidentified persons took the opportunity to attack the baby when his father was working in the field.
