A woman was murdered by her own husband in Dolakha district, adding to the increasing cases of gender-based violence in the country.
The deceased has been identified as Ram Maya Tamang (37) of Jiri Municipality-9 in the district.
Ram Maya, along with her husband Tasbir Tamang (35), was at her maternal home in Kholakharka Ghunde of Thulopatal to attend the wedding ceremony of her younger brother.
Tamang’s husband hit her on her head and face with a wooden plank that is used to bolt the door, killing her on the spot, according to Police Inspector Madhav Prasad Kafle.
The accused has been absconding since the incident and police are searching for him. Meanwhile, body of the deceased has been kept at Jiri Hospital.
