Naren Rajbanshi, a landless squatter residing in Bhadrapur municipality-9 has accused the ward chairman Shanilal Rajbanshi of the same municipality of beating him for not listening to him. The Landless Squatters commission Jhapa had decided to permit the landless squatters to use 1 bigha and 10 Kattha land situated in former Chandragadhi municipality-4 for 10 years in 2010. Naren reported that the ward chairman and his wife beat him on November 26 while he was ploughing the same land. Naren further added that, Shanilal had been threatening him not to plough or use the land since he became the ward chairman. According to Naren, he planned to turn the land into a playground citing that the land belonged to the government.
