Police on Friday arrested a woman in Darbar Rural Municipality-5 of Gulmi district in Province 5 on the charge of murdering her own two-month-old daughter.

The suspect has been identified as local Juna BK, 35. Her daughter, Bishnu, was found dead on Thursday evening.

Police suspect that she might have killed the child as she was taking medicines for some psychological problems.

Police inform that the child had a small injury in an ear.

DSP Min Ghale says police have launched an investigation into the case. The investigators hope that the mother’s statement and the postmortem report will help them reach a conclusion.

The body has already been taken to Gulmi Hospital for autopsy.
